New Spoop Who Dis

I feel like this shit gets harder every year or, perhaps, I'm just expecting too much out of a horror film. I want to be distracted and removed from reality for an hour or two but the reality of the past couple of years have just bled through everything I've been watching, resulting in a weird bit of nostalgia for me while watching these movies. "Remember when gas was that price? Remember when a scandal that small was all it took to get a politican to step down? Hell, remember when kids wanted to go out and play, much less have to be back by a certain time?"

Regardless, it's fucking lame if I let the modern times take away my hobbies by way of wearing me down with everything. At the end of the day, regardless of the flavor, horror is sweet, sweet escapism and I get a whole month of it.

For those unfamiliar, here are the rules:

Rules

  1. Watch a horror film every day in the month of October.
  2. It must be a horror film which you essentially haven't seen. Saw a couple minutes over someone's shoulder at a party? Fell asleep watching the intro at 2am on your friend's couch? That shit don't count.
  3. Loose rule - aim to make at least half of the horror films foreign to your current home country. Expand your gory, shrieking horizons.
  4. Second loose rule - One rerun counts. There's an amazing theater that shows horror on 35mm and if you think I'm missing The Thing on 35 to watch one of the Jason sequels at home, you got another thing comin.
