The Wolf House

Two crumbling pink papier-mâché pig-like figures crouch nose to nose on a grimy tiled floor beside a Christmas tree and wrapped presents.

Holy hell I feel sick watching this film, but in like a seasick way. Stop motion animation rules but I can only take so much of it at once. It’s not just stop animation though, it’s mixed art, mixed media… very beautiful, I just feel vaguely sick.

It follows a girl named Maria who ran from punishment of letting the pigs out of a pen and, rather than taking her punishment, she decided to run away into the forest. Thinking she’s being followed by a wolf, she runs into a nearby house and that’s where most of our film takes place.

Oh christ oh fuck she gave the pigs human hands and tits why did she do thaaaaaaaaaat

She has willed 2 of the pigs that she found in this house into basically being people named Ana and Pedro and it’s mad revolting

Ok, this is a much smarter and more horrifying film than I thought and it’s rooted in German / Chilean relations stemming from Germans fleeing to their region after you-know-what. I had to watch a video explaining wtf some of this was referencing and damn it was not for the faint of heart. I’m still just doing basic write-ups and dumps of my notes while watching these movies so I’m not going to pretend I can do Chilean History properly, but google Colonia Dignidad and you’ll understand this film horrifyingly better.
